Allen Cordell spent his early childhood in North Carolina where he consumed sci-fi and horror films, ruminated over the nuances of You Can’t Do That On Television with his friends, and used the three dollar allowance his grandmother sent him in the mail to collect Garbage Pail Kids .
After attending the Conservatory of Film at Purchase College in New York, Cordell set out to establish himself as a filmmaker with a unique vision. His first music video for Baltimore artist/electronic musician Dan Deacon (with whom Cordell attended school) would go on to garner the attention of fellow Baltimore musicians Future Islands and Beach House. His work with these bands would eventually lead to videos for Tobacco (Tom Fec of Black Moth Super Rainbow), Cloud Nothings, Waters (Van Pierszalowski of Port O’Brien) and Spank Rock (among others). Cordell’s goal is to continue building upon this body of work with new and challenging projects that further the scope of his vision.
